How to get holiday curls

Deciding on the perfect hairstyle for your upcoming holiday party can be tough. This season, channel your inner Marilyn Monroe (think Michelle Williams in My Week with Marilyn), and turn every head with an old Hollywood glamour curl.

Morgan Willhite, creative director of Ouidad (the perfect curl enhancer), drops in to share her tips on creating that show stopping curl moment.

How to get holiday curls

If you're really looking to make a statement with big hair, Willhite recommends setting the top center row of your washed hair with medium heat rollers (Try Conair's Xtreme Instant Heat Multisized Hot Rollers) that go all the way to the back of your head. When the rollers cool, run Ouidad's Shine Glaze Serum over the set hair and use a bristle brush to brush gently for a few minutes to relax the set. Then use your fingers to part your hair in the center to allow the set to really flow. (Reminder: Don't use a comb for this because it may flatten the curl.) You will have instant beautiful curls after these simple steps.

When your hair is perfectly curled, we recommend adding a statement necklace to your ensemble to really stand out. This Joomi Lim necklace may be a splurge, but will be a great conversation starter at your holiday party.

For already curly hair

If you already have curly hair, but still want to make an impact, you're in luck! The curly bob is one of the biggest hair trends this season. So if you're looking to mix it up, try chopping off some of your locks for a boyish, yet refined look.

"Shorter pixie cuts are being considered feminine… finally," Willhite says. "When going short with curly hair, you must go short enough in order for you to not look like a q-tip." If you're not quite ready to cut it all off for the Halle style, try a style that is in-between your ears and shoulders. Think Katherine McPhee for this one. No matter the length, Ouidad's Curl Quencher will condition your short hair and define the curls you have. (Trust us, this is a must-have.)

When your bob is complete, a dramatic set of earrings will finish framing your face. These Forever 21 Tiered Teardrop Earrings will add that shimmer you need to impress that co-worker, relative or holiday crush this season. Plus, at only $6, you can buy a few extra as stocking suffers.
